Koh Samui, the tropical jewel of Thailand, has long been celebrated for its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture. Now, the island is making waves in the culinary world as The MICHELIN Guide Thailand announces four new Bib Gourmand selections, adding a delectable dimension to Koh Samui’s gastronomic scene.

The Bib Gourmand recognition in The MICHELIN Guide signifies excellent food at moderate prices, highlighting establishments that offer exceptional value and high-quality dining experiences. Koh Samui’s four new additions reinforces Koh Samui’s growing reputation as a gastronomic destination. Beyond the pristine beaches and lush landscapes, the island now beckons food enthusiasts eager to explore a diverse range of flavors expertly crafted by local chefs.

As Koh Samui continues to evolve as a global destination, the addition of four new Bib Gourmand selections by The MICHELIN Guide Thailand serves as a culinary milestone. These establishments not only showcase the island's diverse and delectable offerings but also contribute to the growing reputation of Koh Samui as a gastronomic haven where every meal is a celebration of flavors and creativity.

Baan Suan Lung Khai

Uncle Khai’s garden house, located on the chef-owner’s coconut plantation, is a labour of love. He sources seafood from his friends, local fishermen, and serves local and Southern Thai cuisine using the freshest ingredients of the day. Diners, who must book a day in advance, can enjoy fresh oysters and grilled seafood on the alfresco wooden-decked veranda with an open kitchen. There are also tables in open-air huts dotted around the lush green gardens and it's only 5 minutes drive from Hin Fah.

Jun Hom

This unpretentious, open-air eatery is a local gem on the island, offering an affordable opportunity to taste simple, local dishes in a knockout beach location. The portions are hearty, modestly priced and lip-smacking, as the salty, crispy appetiser of deep-fried local silver sillago illustrates. The stir-fried squid is tender and beautifully cooked in a sweet, flavourful sauce and steeped in a lemongrass aroma. Alfresco dining on a blissful beach location.

Kapi Sator

The restaurant upholds authentic Southern Thai food thanks to a culinary repertory that is hard to find elsewhere. One example is the delectable local squid in sweet coconut milk soup with a hint of lemongrass. The daily fish menu changes according to the catch of the day. If available, the deep-fried whole pomfret topped with spicy Southern Thai curry is highly recommended. They offer indoor and outdoor dining with plenty of parking.

Krua Chao Baan Samui

Krua Chao Baan means local kitchen, which aptly describes the vibe of this eatery specialised in Southern Thai food. Simply designed, the open-air restaurant with thatched roofs has a central garden where the kids can play. The signature omelette is simple: crispy, not oily, with mixed seafood and well-seasoned minced pork. The stir-fried squid with pineapple, a local recipe only found on the island, is depicted by joyful sweet, sour and peppery notes.

As The MICHELIN Guide Thailand continues to shine a spotlight on Koh Samui’s culinary scene, these four new Bib Gourmand selections underscore the island’s emergence as a hub for affordable yet exceptional dining experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned food connoisseur or an adventurous traveler seeking local flavors, Koh Samui’s gastronomic landscape is now more enticing than ever, inviting you to savor the fusion of tradition and innovation in every bite.
